Raw thoughts for the week
I just watched Raw earlier today and thought I’d share a few of my thoughts.
What on Earth is Cody Rhodes doing goading Big Show? Is he crazy? At least even Michael Cole is questioning Cody’s choice to behave this way. Does Cody think that because Big Show has a terrible record at WrestleMania, he’ll be able to easily beat the big guy? That’s just crazy especially after the way Big Show was able to break into Daniel Bryan’s pod at Elimination Chamber. That is NOT the guy I’d be belittling.
Why is Mark Henry suddenly jobbing now? A few months ago he was this major badass, now he’s getting knocked out from one blow by Big Show and pinned Raws in a row by Sheamus. I know Henry is out of the title picture for the time being, but they’re kind of destroying all the cred he built up last year.
While I’m enjoying Eve as a heel, I still think the execution made absolutely no sense. I understand the concept of Eve just using superstars to get over, but why would she use superstars when it results in her being harassed by Kane? Kane is a psychotic freak, so why would you put yourself in harm’s way by not dumping Zack immediately the moment Kane started coming after you?
Quick Raw thoughts (1/17/2012)
Opening Segment
I grew tired of Foley years ago, so I skipped everything until Ziggler came out. I actually thought that Dolph came out sounding like a face by pointing out how unfair it is for Foley to enter the Rumble in the place of a young wrestler who has been working his butt off to be in the Rumble match. I lost interest when Punk came out, and Animal’s brother is always boring.
Tag Title Match
This was a good match, but the bigger story is Evan’s suspension. Either Evan has a Hardy-style problem, or he just doesn’t give a shit about being in WWE any longer. I didn’t like the end too much because I felt like it should have been Evan’s fault Airboom lost the match. While he was the one that got pinned, Kofi could have won the match after hitting Trouble in Paradise; instead he tagged in Evan, which allowed Epico enough time to recover and distract Evan long enough for Primo to recover from Trouble in Paradise.
US Title Match
First off, why does Lawler insist on pretending that it wasn’t clear that Swagger kicked out of Punk’s elbow drop. It was 100% clear. Anyways, this wasn’t really much of a match as Zack got in pretty much no offense due to his injuries. I was surprised that Lawler/Cole didn’t make a bigger deal out of an injured Zack kicking out of two of Swagger’s gutwrench bombs.
So Teddy overturns Daniel Bryan’s first title win because Henry wasn’t medically clear to wrestle, yet Animal’s brother doesn’t overturn Swagger’s win when Ryder also wasn’t cleared? Yeah, that’s fair.
Divas Match
Perez Hilton & a models tag team match equals fast forward.
Four Man Battle Royal
Every time R-Truth speaks, I have to fast forward; I just can’t stand him. As for the match, I enjoyed it, but I was surprised Barrett went out so early in the match.
Swagger vs. Cena
AKA Swagger’s second non-match of the night. WWE isn’t doing a great job of making the US title seem very important when both champions (first Zack, now Jack) get their asses kicked with absolutely offense at all. Of course, this was all about highlighting that Cena is starting to “embrace the hate”. I kind of wonder if Kane is going to cause Cena to turn heel by attacking Zack.
Brodus Clay vs. JTG
Clay’s gimmick is so stupid, yet I find myself enjoying the heck out of it.
Daniel Bryan, Y2J, CM Punk vs. Mark Henry, David Otunga, Mark Henry
No real surprises in this one. You knew Jericho was going to do something off the wall. I’m kind of suspecting it will be Jericho and not Animal’s brother than costs Punk the title so that Jericho and Punk can fight at WrestleMania to determine who the Best in the World really is. Foley comes out and beats the hell out of Otunga, despite the fact Foley doesn’t even look like he can walk properly any more. *Rolls eyes*
Animal’s brother comes out, reverses the decision because Foley wasn’t a part of the match, and then we get a long-winded Punk rant that didn’t make Punk look very good IMO. Then he leaves and Animal’s bro knocks out Foley. That was an extremely dull ending.
Are Airboom Done?
When I read about Airboom losing the titles, my first thought would be that they would eventually win them back. Then I realized that since the tag titles were unified, the only team to hold the titles more than once were Justin/Slater. Pretty much every other team that held the titles split up shortly after they lost the titles. Will Airboom end the streak of teams breaking up after losing the belts?
Another interesting note: Primo & Carlito were the first people to unify the tag titles.

So much for WWE being PG! LMAO
